Ghana under series of robbery attacks

Ghana is experiencing a rapid increase in armed robbery cases. Over the past few days, robberies in different locations have occurred in sequence, leading to a Lebanese citizen being shot dead and a mother being stabbed fatally.

Tuesday February 27's daylight robbery was at the Royal Motors in the North Industrial Area of Accra. The next day, a Lebanese national named Ahmed Safiadeen was shot and killed in Tema, on his return from the bank where he is reported to have gone to withdraw money. The robbers allegedly stole Ghc200,000 from him.

The Ghana Police has since been under strict vigilance leading to the arrests of suspects, in different raids. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the Royal Motor robbery. The police have confirmed that they've recovered all stolen vehicles.

Meanwhile former President Jerry John Rawlings says he hopes the robberies aren't politically motivated.

Also, some Ghanaians are social media, are creating a call to reassign former head of Research and Planning Department of the Ghana Police Service, Nathan Kofi Boakye who is believed to have curbed robbery situations and masterminded the arrests of most notorious criminals in the country.
